G.M.I.T. Sports Day

We were delighted to have been invited to take part in a day of outdoor activities at the G.M.I.T. Campus last Thursday. The boys got to take part in orienteering, kayaking, archery, climbing and outdoor adventure games! It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all!

Confirmation retreat

Last week we took a trip to Ballintubber Abbey for our Confirmation retreat. The boys had a very enjoyable day working in groups to gain a deeper understanding of receiving the Holy Spirit and the importance of the Sacrament. They also took a pilgrim walk around the Abbey and discovered lots about the history. We had lots of storytelling, quiet time and prayer time which gave the boys lots of time for reflection. Thanks to all the staff at Ballintubber Abbey for making it such an enjoyable day.

Proclamation Day

Before the Easter break we celebrated Proclamation Day here in the school on Tuesday 15th March. There was a great effort made by all classes to make this day a great success. We reflected on and commemorated the events of 100 years ago by raising our national flag, re writing our Proclamation for the future and our band provided us with excellent music on the day. It was a really enjoyable morning and the sun stayed shining for the celebrations!

The boys were shown a short audio visual presentation on the life and achievements of Michael Davitt and then enjoyed a guided tour of the Land League Exhibition. We also visited Michael Davitt's grave and his baptismal font. We had a great mornig and thanks to all the lovely staff who made the visit so interesting!

Happy Pancake Tuesday!

We had lots of fun making pancakes in class on Tuesday! It was great to hear so many boys went home and made pancakes themselves! Well done!

Young Scientist Exhibition

This week the boys entered the schools first Young Scientist Exhibition which was organised by Mr. Barrett. They worked really hard on gathering all their research, presenting their evidence, making predictions and designing their experiments. A small selection of their work is attached below and we were delighted that 8 projects were selected for the final judging next Tuesday morning!
